St. Patrick’s in New Orleans

I spent a couple of days in New Orleans over the weekend and I was lucky enough to be there for St. Patrick’s day. I stayed in the French Quarter and had an amazing time while I enjoyed just walking the streets and doing some urban / street photography at my own pace.

The hotel. I stayed a historic hotel in the French Quarter. Very central location right on Bourbon St.

The Quarter. One word “colorful”. I walked the quarter and I was high from all the colors, the music, and the people on the streets. I suppose that St. Patrick’s somewhat increased the craziness in the quarter – amazing! These ones were mostly taken in the early morning. Further down there are a couple taken at night.

The Streets. Outside the quarter, the streets are not less interesting and especially the warehouse district got me. Lots of red bricks with tons of character and old houses.

The People. I met quite a variety of people. From the traveling couple having breakfast in a deserted café to people from a wedding passing the window of a historic restaurant. There were photographers waiting for the right moment and street musicians providing late night entertainment. Palm readers and business men.

The Nights. It changes everything. Peaceful streets from the mornings turn into one of the biggest street parties. Every street is packed with people drinking “grenades” and throwing or catching beads.
